Oklahoma Fact of the Week:
The GAP Band, from Tulsa, Oklahoma recieved their first big break as the backup band for Leon Russel. Originally named the Greenwood, Archer, Pine Street Band - Chose to honor the Tulsa Race Riot of 1921 in the African American business district of Tulsa. The streets that made up the business district were Greenwood Ave. Archer St. and Pine Street. They later shortened the name to GAP Band in 1979.
